Got a call from a neighbor that he knew of a mare and her colt that needed a home.  I said yes then thought about it decided I shouldn't take them.  I called my friend back and he told me to take them and if it didn't work out we would find them another home.

I went to help get the mare in the trailer.   The mare was really poor, the colt had taken alot out of her.   The colt is beautiful.  We got him in the trailer but the mare went down in the alley.  She is not broke and barely halter broke.  She just didn't have the strength to get up.  After hours of trying and finally cutting the alley away the owners where she was got her out into the arena.  They called me early and I went over to try to get her up too.  She is still eating and drinking so there is a small bit of hope.  We are leaving her in God's hands.

I got the colt home and he is doing fine.  He is eating and drinking too.  I need to get him on a bottle as soon as possible.  When I have a house full tomorrow I will try to get a halter on him and a bottle down him.  I named him Showboat after the redheaded young man at my church camp  that took care of the horses.  Of course I had quite a crush on him!!!

When I was at the place that had the mare I looked at a little pony that will work very well for the grandkids so I bought him.  He is going to be delivered tomorrow.  His name Cody and he is 12 years old "very" broke and a palomino!!!  I've always wanted one and Showboat could be a dun.  We'll see.
I can't wait for the kids to see him, I think they will love him.  The guy also had a little paint mare that may be bred.  She is pretty cheap so I may get her too!!!  It seems I've gone horse crazy.   LOL   For those that know me not much of a leap as far as animals are concerned.

Now for the food.  Going to make sliders tomorrow, never have made them before, how hard could it be!  Also potato salad, rice salad (a first), BBQ chicken, baked beans and another first chocolate chip cookie dough bits.  Can't wait for those.   I know that the food is not going to be the bell of the ball tomorrow it will be the colt, the pool and when he arrives Cody.  I haven't said anything so it will be a wonderful surprise!!   Although I don't know if they could be any more excited than I am.

Oh I forgot to tell you about Pat my hero!!  Yesterday I went to get eggs and there was a snake in the chicken coop.  Pat killed it for me.  It had eaten several eggs, but no more!!!  Thanks honey!!!

For those wondering, Pat is okay with me getting more horses.  You should see his new gun!!!!
