Life on the Rosa

It has been an interesting week on the Demirosa.  My week began with turkey's on the tree line south of the house.  I had gone out to see what needed to be done on the deck and pool.

Our cover for the pool had shredded during the winter.  The pool was a green and gooey mess!!  Pat helped me get the cover off and I started working, vacuum, skim, vacuum. skim.  Sore arms. Shock, Shock, Shock, vacuum, vacuum, vacuum. REALLY sore arms.   The reason getting the deck and pool in order was to look nice for a friend of ours that in not well.  Some of her family was coming in from overseas to see her and they all wanted to come see the Demirosa.  I wanted everything to be in order and looking good for them.   Got some nice plants for all the pots on the deck.  Potted the plants, sore hands.  (You would think with all the milking I do that at least my hands would be in shape!)  Finally the deck was looking good.  The pool is still a little cloudy but it's not GREEN!!!

As I was getting the deck ready I realized I had not seen any hummingbirds yet.  So I cleaned my feeders and put them out.  In less than 5 mins I had a swarm of little cuties!!   They had been waiting for me.  Usually it takes half the summer before you feel like you need a helmet so the birds don't fly into your ears but not this year.  I love to hear the chirp and squeal of these little guys.  The dance or fighting they do is so fun to watch.

While working on the deck for several days I saw more turkeys on the tree line south of the house.  I wish I could spend the day just watching for deer, turkey, bobcats whatever.  A neighbor called and is having a problem with a bobcat stealing his chickens.  I have since kept a closer eye on my chickens.

It came time for our friend to come out.  We were so disappointed that she couldn't make it.  She is just not feeling well at all.  Please pray for her.  Her visiting family did make it out and we enjoyed entertaining them.   We walked around the place, saw the vineyard, cabin, pond, goats and they got to see my guard horse, yes, GUARD HORSE!!   Thunder is my horse that I love.  We were all standing by the barn and the two little dogs were at the pond.  Thunder saw something moving and his ears went up, he raised his head and puffed his chest.  A snort and prance to the pond to see what was there.  When he realized it was the pups, all was right with the world and he had keep us safe from all things strange.

Then I got a surprise call from a young woman that wanted to know if we were open.  I asked what she wanted to do.  She wanted to bring her son out to see the animals.  I told her to come ahead.  They got here about an hour after the company had gone.  We had a nice time.  I let them milk the goat, we walked to the pond and saw a snake.  yuck!!  I know they are around I just DON'T  want to see them!!!!   Made going to look for eggs kinda exciting.  She bought some goat milk soap and tasted goat milk.  She thought it tasted great!!  She also got some cheese.  I believe she enjoyed the cabin as well.  I hope they come back to see us.

At the end of the day made a light dinner and watched a movie to relax.  Trying to decide what the menu is for the cabin brunches.  Should I got mexican or derby day!!!  Give an opinion!!!
