Woo Hoo!! Babies
Of course it was the coldest day we've had all winter!! It started at 10am with Ruth. She was such a surprise. I wasn't sure she was even in labor until she started pushing. She had her first doe at 10:30 the second kid came right away, it was a buck. Then we waited and waited. Finally Pat checked and the last doe had her head turned in. He was able to pull it pretty easily. I put my coat on Ruth she was so cold. She really enjoyed the warm drink with karo. I got a picture I'll try to get it on the web site soon! To cute. I put the kids in the milk barn because it was the warmest place.
I was warming up in the house and getting bottles ready and milk pails. When I got back to the barn it was 4pm and Tilly had one kid on the ground. It was a doe. We had to break the sack to get the second kid out. It was a buck. The third kid came out backwards but without any problems. We were finished by 6pm. It was so cold. All of us were shivering!!
I love the kids, I love to milk and I love the goats but I hate kidding day! There is so much that can go wrong and we have had our problems. Now that it's over I can relax. Nothing traumatic, everyone healthy, made it through another year!
We still have Pixie to go but I think she will be fine and it's going to happen for several months. I think she will only have one.
Going to try to get some rest. We start the four feedings a day for the kids and milking twice a day.
