Getting Cabin Ready
The walls are up the shingles are on and the insulation is in!! I hope to get the drywall tomorrow and it won't be long now!
The first really cold snap is here and it finally fells like Christmas. I worked all day getting the barn winterized. At 4pm it was 70 degrees. By 6pm it was in the 40's and falling fast!! I checked the cabin before going to bed and the heater was on and working well. It was very warm!! For those that know me..... you won't be surprised to know that the cabin already has a bed and is decorated for Christmas!! Yes I know there is only insulation on the walls....you must understand I live in a straw house!! I had straw for walls for two years before getting REAL walls! So I think insulation is JUST FINE!!
The hot plate, refrigerator and microwave are in and ready to go. The cabin is dry right now but hopefully we will get plumbing out there someday soon. Right now we have an inhouse/outhouse. The back door to our house is not far and there is a guest bath right inside the door.
The goats are getting bigger and bigger! Tilly looks like she is going to have four kids again this year!!! We are only a month away from kidding! I can't wait to have the bottle babies again. That means fresh milk and cheese!!
We also have a new addition. It's taken awhile since I lost Tyree to even think of getting another small dog but the time has come. This time I wanted a very small, good for nothing, no value at all kind of dog! I FOUND IT!! It is a PomPoo. He weights 3 pounds and is the sweetest thing ever!! He is my Wobbie, reference "Mr. Mom" the movie. I suppose when you are that small you can't have any fear. If you did you would be really neurotic!! This little guy runs with the German Shepherds and Lab like he is one of them. His best friend is Lokie the female German Shepherd. They are a hoot together!! So now I have Gus the 100 pound German Shepherd for substance and Wobbie for pure pleasure!!
Well it's time to get the day started and the fires going. It's really cold out there!!
