Our first vacation in 12 years!! I was going to lose my NUMBER ONE employee if I didn't get him out of here so he would know that he had actually RETIRED!!!! (I was working him to hard)
We went to visit WONDERFUL friends in New Mexico. Then we went to our Honeymoon location, Ouray Colorado. Nothing had changed, it was just like it always is, beautiful!! The time was short but Pat knew the only way I would go is if we got back to the Ranch before anyone here, animals, did something stupid.
Mother stayed at the house so the horses, goats and chickens knew they were being watched. I had a neighbor come in and feed everyone so Mother wouldn't have to do that. I don't know how it goes at your house but here everyone, goats, horses, chickens, cats and dogs are just fine when we are home. Be gone for the DAY and when you get home someone has either gotten thier head stuck in the fence or gotten in the vineyard, gotten cut (who knows how or where). If someone is in the house then generally, things go well.
Things were fine with Mother in the house. I was so proud of her, at 75 she stayed in the middle of nowhere ALONE, and did GREAT!!!
Now that we are back things are just as crazy as they were before we left! We are really working on getting the Demi Rosa Ranch and Vineyard up and running for the holidays.
We were invited to be on the radio KTOK 1000 AM, The Grillia Gourmet, for AN HOUR, to tell about the ranch. Sean and Cathy, the hosts of the show, really loved our Jalapeno and Zinfandel Wine Grape Jellies. Sean, who has been to a Cheese School in Ireland, said my goat milk cheese was the cleaness and best goat milk cheese he had ever had. He said, "The French would be jealious of your cheese." I took that as a great compliment!! Pat of course was a natural on the radio, he has always been my best salesman!! We have an open invitation to be on thier show anytime.
I hired Heather, my daughter, to come help because we just can't do it all. She has been a great help and will make things flow much better.
It's getting to be that time when hay rides and parties will keep us busy!! The holidays are just around the corner and if you know me at all, I LOVE HOLIDAYS!!!! Our mission is to make sure whoever books a hay ride or party, it will be a memory of a lifetime!!
Well it's time to go feed, (PAT) and the animals. Next time I'll tell you about the deer, turkey's and bobcat. Just the drive to come see the Ranch is worth the trip!
