The Buck, Grapes, Brother, Doe!
It is time to breed the goats. First we put the little girls in with Pickles the sheep. They REALLY didn't like that much. Have you ever heard a little goat that is hoarse? They were so pitiful! but so cute! We put the billy in with the big girls and when we went out to feed in the morning he had taken out several walls of the barn. Don't you just love the billy's. Everyone seems to be doing fine now. The billy has settled down and the little ones are getting use to their new home, for now! We should have babies in January!!
We have been taking grapes to the Farmers Market on Wednesday and Saturday. Right now we are keeping an making jelly out of the rest of the grapes. They are really ripe and sweet. I only have a few days to get them off the vine and into juice before I lose them. I go out and pick a bucket, bring it in to destem and crush, then cook to make the juice. I have several gallons of juice right now and hope to have many more gallons before I'm done.
We were at the hospital two days ago to be with a friend that was having surgery and Mother called. I told her where we were, she wanted to know if we had washed away from the 5 inch rain we got the night before. We needed the rain so badly!! Our road was fine, believe it or not. She called back in about 5 minutes to tell me my brother was in town..... OMG! We hadn't seen him years. He lives in Kentucky. Not only was he in town but he was at the hospital with his mother-in-law..... Not only in the hospital but on the same floor I was on!!! How amazing was that! :O We meet in the hall and had a family reunion right there.
We called the rest of the family and had everyone over for dinner. Brother loved the vineyard, he is a hobby wine maker, it must run in the family! LOL My niece loves horses, again must run in the family!!
My other niece is a hobby wine maker, you just can't get away from being a blood relative!!! We had a great time!! It was much to short but anytime is better than nothing. So sad to see them go!
Last night Pat was taking a walk in the evening, as he usually does, and ran right up on a large doe. They both froze and looked at each other for several minutes. Pat back out and let her go about her business. It's so wonderful to have these little experiences. When Heather came out the other day she saw a Bobcat at the small barn on the way up to the house. You just never know what you will see!
Well, time to hit the grapes again! Just wanted to catch you up on the fun times at the Demi Rosa.
