We have lived here 10 years and yesterday morning we found our first Flying Squirrel!!  They are rather small with a tail that looks like a feather.  Very interesting little creatures.  We have a large cat population due to the snake problem we use to have.  The cats have really kept the snakes away but they also find other things.  In this case it was the flying squirrel.  I went to my gift shop and Gus, my German Shepherd started barking at the bottom of the steps.  I looked and there was the squirrel.  The cats had brought it home to show me.  It's to bad to find it that way but now we know to start looking for them. 

We also have tons of Roadrunners.  I have been told they help the snake problem too.  We find new and interesting things all the time. 

On the way to town the other day we there were five Red tail hawks right by the road.  We haven't ever seen that many in the same place at the same time. 

Another neat find was a bird nest in the grapevines and it had eggs in it.  I didn't get a good look at the eggs, I didn't want to disturb the nest. Can't wait to see the babies.  I hope they hatch before the festival.
