He's on to Us!!
The second night of cans the little raccoon didn't come back for an hour between attempts. He waited us out!! We were so tired that we finally went to bed. Last night he didn't come around until we had gone to bed and were exhausted. When we got up the can was on the deck and food had been EATEN!!
Never heard a thing. We are going to try again tonight, I'm betting on the raccoon!!
I think he lives under the house. The dogs go crazy at night, barking at house footing. We would go under the house and take care of business, except it's Summer! Snakes come out in the summer, we have Copperheads and Pygmy Rattlers. (bad snakes) Speaking of snakes, yesterday the grand kids and I went for a walk to the pond. A.J., my grandson spotted a snake on a log in the pond. As far as I'm concerned the ONLY GOOD SNAKE is a DEAD SNAKE!!!!! Sierra, my granddaughter and I stayed and watched the snake while A.J. went to get Pat. By the time they got back the snake had slide off the log and disappeared in to the trees at the waters edge.
We are booked for a hayride tomorrow so we went to get straw today. It was about three hours one way so the whole day was shot. We are getting ready for the U-Pick Grape Harvest Festival and it's driving us all NUTS!! My back almost went out, Heather's is very tender and Pat is walking funny! Stress, let's you know your ALIVE! (great) There is still so much to do for the hayride and it's already 9:30 pm!
On the way home from getting straw today a 3 year old buck, looked like at least a eight point, still in velvet, ran right in front of us. We were only a few miles from home. I wish everyone who came to visit the Demi Rosa got to see all the wonderful creatures that live so very close to us.
Well wish us luck, my Mother is getting worried that if we don't dispatch the raccoon soon he will eat all the GRAPES!!!! I don't know if he will but he will probably invite his friends!
EUREKA!! I think Pat got him!! While I was writing I heard the rock, Pat put on the food bin, hit the deck. Pat got outside and he thinks he got a good shot off. You know we could have trapped him and taken him to the country, oh wait, we are in the country! If we took him off, he would find someone else's chickens or dog/cat food. We'll see if he comes back tomorrow.
I really need to get my cheese hung so it will be ready for tomorrow. Have a good night and a better day!!
I'll let you know how the hayride goes, keep your fingers crosses!!!!!
